Wind looked a bit up and down again, so rather than rig a 5m and little board for the gusts or a 5.6m and big board for the lulls I decided to hedge my bets and go with the 5m and big board.

First run was good, just powered up and had a good few jumps on the way out and made some ground upwind on the way back in. Next run wasn't so good as the wind dropped and I ended up downwind with a walk of shame to follow.

Waited around in the shallows giving it the odd go as a gust came through and had a few OK runs during the next half an hour. Then, thankfully the wind filled in nicely and I finished off the session well powered and able to blast out through the waves with a little bit of power in reserve.

It was mad out there though with chop and waves coming from all directions. There wasn't an inch of flat water so it was pretty manic. At times there were breaking bits of swell going away from the beach and lumps and bumps all over the place. It certainly kept me on my toes!

Turned out good in the end, and looking at the forecast there is plenty more to come.
